Tutoring

The past few years Truman’s Cardinal Key chapter has started tutoring middle school children. I was lucky enough to have a few hours open up in my schedule so that I was able to tutor a 6th grade girl this semester. Many times the children that the school has us tutor are the students that may not have a perfect home life or the proper motivation to get their homework done. The idea is that we spend an hour a week with the student and help them with any homework they have for the day or with any school work they hadn’t turned in late. Working with the 6th grade girl has been a big learning experience for me. I love working with people but tutoring is helping me grow as a person in many ways. Without this little girl I wouldn’t have near the patience that I do. It is a great way to get away from school and forget about the stress and purely focus on the success of the student. We laugh and joke together but at the same time get a lot of work done. Tutoring is by far my favorite service event and I will do whatever I can to continue to do it each semester I am at school. I encourage everyone to find service you are passionate about. It can truly be eye-opening and grow you as an individual.

LOVE <3,
